I Am Not Your Inspiration Porn sticker
I Am Not Your Inspiration Porn sticker points out a real problem people with different abilities while making people laugh! This sticker was created as a result of conversations with our employees about pity and not wanting to be "inspiring."
The term "Inspiration Porn"was coined in 2012 by disability rights activist Stella Young. Inspiration porn is the portrayal of people with disabilities as being inspirational to non-disabled people on the basis of life circumstances. As Ms. Young said, “I use the term porn deliberately because of the objectification of one group of people for the benefit of another group of people.”
The big problem here is the same problem as the concept of pity. Inspiration porn reduces a person’s sole worth to their disability and ability to inspire people.
