I Am Not Your Inspiration Porn Sticker
The term "Inspiration Porn"was coined in 2012 by disability rights activist Stella Young. Inspiration porn is the portrayal of people with disabilities as being inspirational to non-disabled people on the basis of life circumstances. As Ms. Young said, “I use the term porn deliberately because of the objectification of one group of people for the benefit of another group of people.”
The big problem here is the same as the concept of pitying differently abled people. Inspiration porn reduces a person’s sole worth to their disability and ability to inspire people. Reject the inspiration porn, see people with disabilities as the PEOPLE that they are!
